About
The famous open roadstead anchorage at Jamestown, capital of St Helena — one of the most remote inhabited islands in the world, midway between Africa and South America in the South Atlantic. Yachts anchor in James Bay, which offers only modest protection from ocean swell. The island was Napoleon's final exile and a vital waypoint on the old sailing routes between Europe, Africa, and the Americas. Today it remains a popular stop on South Atlantic passages, with the new St Helena Airport (opened 2016) also serving the island. Supplies and fuel available ashore.
